Would like to know if the buttplates on the standard and feather weight pre 64 were blued or painted. What is the best way to restore one so it looks factory original? The black looks like a "satin" texture to me. Thanks in advance for any advice and opinions.

Winchester didn't paint their products. They were blued using the same process as their other parts. I do not believe in restoring so can not tell you where to go to get like kind bluing.

The aluminum plates on the Featherweight guns were anodized, as was the bottom metal and trigger bow....

Robert, The standard rifles steel buttplate's were blued. The aluminum Featherweight buttplates were anodized black with the edges left unfinished.
