It was the first time I've seen a brownie on the way up to Anch in all the years I've lived here.
I know quite a few people that have seen bears along the road and in the river at Cooper Landing. Even know someone that had a vehicle collision with a brown bear.

Brown Bears are out in force around Sitka. Long time until the salmon show up. Always the worst time of the year for hiking.
