mushrooms have popped up. here's how i've been doing them..

roll in egg
batter with crushed ritz crackers
add black pepper and a shake of creole seasoning
fry them in butter
give them a shake of parmesan

i about od'ed on them the last 2 days.

That sounds good. When I can get some I usually just saute in butter.

One of our favorites is add a big bunch to a skillet of browned round steak cooked in cream of celery soup with Yukon gold taters and onions.

Like Keith you can't beat em just sauteed in real butter.

Do you cut them (halves or quarters lengthwise, slices), or do you sauteed whole?

Ever grill them?

i cut them lengthwise. no ,i've not grilled them.i have picked 111 this year in my yard. we're heading to our hunt club mushroom hunting in the morning.

Soak in water to remove bugs
Cut in half
Dredge in egg
Coat in Zataran's
Fry in butter
Try not to eat so many I die


If I had them in my yard I would quit work and pick 'shrooms.

Sure wish we had them out here. Oh well, got maters and all other sorts of stuff in the garden again. Should be picking them in about three to five weeks.

I hunted my favorite spot for an hour and a half this morning and came up with 26. We need a rain (which is hopefully coming in a couple of days) and then they should pop. I'd love to get enough to dehydrate for eating later in the year!

cut length wise or quarter for big ones. wash and clean dredge in a milk/ egg mixture. shake in a gallon bag with seasoned salt flour and crushed saltine crackers. repeat dredge and shake and fry in oil or butter till golden brown and flip.

or

saute in butter with sweet onion and place over grilled steak or chicken

dam guys got it good...u can find my posts from last year ...where I cleaned up btw !! still got 5/6 weeks till they "can " come around... >> melt butter cut shrooms in half the long way ...cup side down till they tell u to flip ...then salt & eat only other way I like in in scrambled eggs.. I like them the way they are 1st /they taste..1st !! yum yum!
