Just for fun.
I gave Superformane a try in the 338-06. I started with Rem brass, WLR primers and Sierra 225 bullets. I loaded one round at each 55,56,57,58,59,60,61,62,63, and 64gr.
55gr. 2333 fps 64gr. 2600 fps
64 gr.filled the case to the base of the neck where the bullets were seated, no compression. All cases showed NO pressure signs and extracted with no problems.
The last 7 rounds went into 1.25" at 100 yards. This was with out working hard for precision. Scope is a Bushnell 4200 1.5x6 with firefly reticle and rifle is a Savage 110 with an E.R. Shaw barrel.

How long was the barrel? I was getting 2690 fps with RL-17 and a 21" barrel and 225 Accubonds.

The barrel is 24"
This was done just to see if it was a possibly a good powder foe this application. I went into it thinking it was to slow burning and that is what I came out thinking. My thoughts are there are many better powders for the 225's.

Thanks! I have some superformance so it's nice to know it'll work on the 338-06 in a pinch.

H4350 works well with the 225s too.

Thanks PRM. I have some of that as well. Have only ran RL-17 in my 338-06 as it found .750" groups consisently with the 210 sciroccos. THe 225s with RL-17 came in about 1.5" which was good enough for me but the it liked the 210s so I am going that route. But I may have to load up some 225s again with some superformance and 4350 and see if I can get some accuracy there.

H4350 works well with the 225s too. Yep my favorite for big bullets so far except IMR 4064 works best for bullets under 200 grs like the Barnes 160 TTSX or Nosler 180 AccuBbonds IMO. I'll give Superformance a try should I find some..

Does anyone know what to expect about longevity and Superformance if the loaded rounds are left lying around in Africa for ten-20 years?

Superformance REALLY surprised me in my 300 WSM. It is accurate & fast.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

All I've tried was H4350. Moves a 225 grain accubond at 2625fps and is scary accurate

I used RL15 in my 35-06 JDJ. It pushed 225's to 2670 fps in my 15" barrel.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.
