I want to bring along a neck knife or some sort of knife to carry while in these three countries. Any suggestions of what will keep me out of trouble?

I want to bring along a neck knife or some sort of knife to carry while in these three countries. Any suggestions of what will keep me out of trouble? I travel a lot in Europe and I agree with Ready's post above. I'd avoid a neck knife (far too "Rambo"), and stick to something like a simple Swiss Army knife (and even then, avoid models with a locking blade or a big blade). I'd further suggest a model with a corkscrew. Wine-drinking Europeans are likely to accept your knife if you "carry it for the corkscrew" You want a model like the one above that downplays the "weapon" aspect and emphasizes the "useful pocket tool" aspect. An Opinel #8 might be worth considering too. Great steel, and a long history (especially in Europe) and it's from France, and everyone knows nothing dangerous come from France. The blade also locks into place--------albeit the whole process is NOT tactically quick----------which might be a nudge in it's favor over the SAK. Plus you'd have a great EDC knife once you got back home.
