Love my Shield's, favorite CC piece. Very comfortable in my Garrett IWB Silent Thunder holster, easy on/off. I think everything about the Shield is nearly perfect, except...

Am I the only one that wishes there was a 4" Shield? Keep the grip/frame exactly as is, just a 4" barrel slide. I find the width and grip length the biggest problems with CC - an extra inch of slide/barrel would be inconsequential.

Thoughts?

Seems fine the way it is. Easy to conceal, shoot & right size for a BUG from time to time. That role would be difficult with that extra inch of barrel & added slide weight. YMMV

I love it just the way it is! I figure I am in the minority on this but I also like the thumb safety.

Add another 1.15" to the barrel and an extra round in the longer magazine and you have created....a Commander in 9mm or .40.

I got to shoot one today. I really liked it the way it is, but a little longer barrel would not of hurt.

To be clear, I wasn't advocating S&W stop selling the current version, just wishing a little longer slide/barrel variant was available.

I would send a message to one of the big distributors (TALO, Lipsey's, Etc), and mention that if they were to have a batch made up that way, you'd be customer number 1. It may take a year to convince them, and you'd have to create your own "awareness" campaign, but crazier things have happened.

Look how many years shooters wanted a 4 5/8" Super Blackhawk, finally one distributor decided to just place an order, and BAM, now it's a regular thing.

Yeah, carried IWB, the short barrels/slides on these types of handguns are a waste. They want to please the pocket carry folks, though.

That was actually the path I was thinking about, but judging by the responses I've had it doesn't look like my awareness campaign is got a snowballs chance in hell...

Oh well, still have a great piece and I'm thankful for it.

I don't think I would buy one with a longer barrel, there are just to many options out there if you want that. I carry mine OWB in a pancake holster, never liked IWB. I do like my Shield it replaced my CZ 75 D for my carry.
