Just acquired a .300 Winchester and a .264 that are flat new and unfired since leaving the factory. Bought a small collection from an 80+ y/o gent who says it's time to sell. Also have another .300 Winchester with its box and a solid pad .338, both minty to sell....The .338 may be unfired. He couldn't remember.
These are premium guns from a fellow who bought them new and put them away. My son will be here over Memorial Day and take/send photos for anyone who is interested.
Prices are:
.300 Winchester $3995 .264 $3495 .300 w/box $3495 .338 $3495
Please PM any interest. I'll probably list them on GI after you guys have a few weeks to mull things over. Not in any hurry to sell.
PS: I'm keeping a 1949 .250/3000 Standard.

LOL....Yep, haven't owned one for several years...
He also has an unfired 1956 .458 and an unfired 1950 SG .375 but wants insane money for each....
He also has a very interesting .270 SG FW....1963 rifle, jeweled bolt but follower is not damascened...ivory front bead...I'd have made him an offer if it were not for the fact the barrel channel had been slightly relieved...it was his hunter he said. I've never seen a FW SG that late but it could have well been a parts cleanup gun. Stock was right, plastic BP and all...had SG-style checking....

Nice snag Bob. Any others worth a look? Any chance of a 270? Of all the pre-64s I have, I have never owned a 270.

He has a bad SG FW .270. You don't want it... I have an "extra" .270 FW w/alum. BP... 98%+ and completely original...

I can't blame you for wanting to keep it. I have never come across one. NIB guns are nice for the collector but I like to shoot mine.

Have to admit knowing there are pre 64 Model 70's out there that are unfired makes me very sad. I couldn't ever own one and not shoot it.

Its not that hard to shoot a NIB gun, Ive broke 3 in, sold 1 and kept 2, the .264 win mag I plan on keeping till I get pushed off in the bull hole in cow pasture, same story with 338 win mag. Im interested in the 300 win mag NIB. I have one that is about 85 to 90 % I could move and trade up, that would give me a 300 win mag, 264 win mag and 338 win mag all nib till I zeroed them in. very best on a super find!!!! Was the old gent from your neck of woods? the very best WinPoor

Yes, he lives about an hour from me. A gunsmith friend of mine put me in touch with him...
These are what I refer to as dry guns, too...not all oiled up which really makes them look great...

Mr Rule is accurate 99% of the time in his book but I have seen some things that are dog dam sure 100% Winchester that are not supposed to be, Ive had the Idaho Super Grade, Gopher Special Featherweight out in the GA sun 4 times with my Gunsmith visor glasses on and if Winchester did not put it together it was put together with all new Winchester parts. My oldtime Hardware store owner has told me more than once, a good factory rep and money would yield whatever you wanted vis Winchester.. very best WinPoor

I was talking to a well respected Winchester authority a few months ago who remarked that if a gun had Winchester components then who's to say it's not right...he's 100% correct. The rub lies with guns that do not have Winchester parts which can be very difficult to discredit. Anyone buying an unusual rifle runs the risk of being hoodwinked. Which is why I never owned a 7.65 or 9 M/M....A re-done gun in hand is relatively easy for an experienced person to identify. On the other hand a faked rifle put together by a good gunsmith can be darn near impossible to spot.

I'm all for shooting them, although I am no fan of messing with them. You can make yourself a little happier with every one you "liberate"! I've done it, but it was a luxury, and I wouldn't keep spending money to do it more than once! At least that is my current position . . .

I may shoot em but I baby the hell out of them, I do have a beater 270 in a synthetic stock to hunt in foul weather, It gets pulled apart and cleaned up after a wet weather hunt. It did feel good to neck shoot a nice freezer buck with a 264 win mag on shot 10 thru it since the wp was stamped on it. I made sure I did not put one ding on it climbing up ladder stand. I dont do a lot of walk and stalk any more so its easy to be easy on these guns here in the east. very best WinPoor

Don Sir: All unreasonably high offers will be seriously considered Great looking 270 and you do a fantastic job with photos! PM what you think is unreasonable high, that would make you happy! great wood !I love to keep my finger on the pulse of this market! I got real serious several years ago and used to watch any and every where a pre 64 popped up, Im seeing a lot of older gentlemen cash in ,in the last year, these are guys that had the foresight to buy and put them away in the late 50's early 60's.As my Dad explained to me as we were looking at a 61 Winchester catalog $160 dollars was a heck of an investment in those days. I like the old scope but my old eyes want the AO these days! very best winpoor

That is insane. I think it would be a long time before you would realize any profit margin at that price.
