Would like to try prairie dogs some day.

Got to shoot chucks one time, I think wife and I got 3 over in TN once. Was an interesting shoot there. Nothing really long, but a couple of 300ish yard shots.

I bet PDs could be fun too.

Shooting Prairie dogs with a good AR is the most fun you will ever have with your cloths on.

Just bring LOTS of ammo. grin

I can imagine. 1000 rounds is probably a start...

I've never used an AR on PDs but it sounds like loads of fun. In the past I've always used my Savage bolt gun in 223 Rem. My new 243 provides a whole new level of destruction on those critters.

To no one in particular, yesterday I drove down to Lamar on business. I'm back home tonight. I've never seen the prairie as wet and green as it is right now, or at least not for 30+ years. With all the rain we've had lately all the grass is green and there is standing water everywhere. Also, I saw VERY few antelope, much less than in years past. I think I only saw a total of 5 antelope the whole trip. frown

Yea, the .243 provides a great visual spectral.

The best round I've found for launching them into the air is the 90gr Sierra HP's out of .270 Winchester. My old load spit them out around 3500, and it would just launch them. laugh

AC,
If you expect to get much more Prairie dogging in this year, Nosler Proshop has the .243 55gr tipped Varmageddons on sale for 14 bucks a hundred, and the 70 grainers for 13.
