Monsoons start generally around July 4th here Barry - Gonna be a bad fire year - Lots of fuel on the ground from the wet winter and spring we have had.

Here is the best I have right now. Screenshot from local news. Blanco River bridge just south of Wimberley. Can you see the massive cypress on the right side of bridge? Brother said it's about a 6 foot diameter one, which they all are lining that river...

Thanks, Greg.

Yep, it's pretty telling with that big cypress on top of the bridge..

I think you'll see monsoons sooner than that maybe?

Saw some northerly flow here yesterday.

Remember some of the old timers road hands with the department telling me that's how the old US87 bridge south of Mason was taken out on the Llano in the '55 flood. Except it was big cottonwood and pecan trees that did it!

County commissioner's family missing in Wimberley flooding

CORPUS CHRISTI -- Business man and former Nueces County Commissioner Joe McComb has confirmed to our sister station, Kiii-TV in Corpus Christi, that his son Jonathan was seriously hurt when a home he was staying in was swept away by extreme flooding near Wimberley.

McComb's two grandchildren and daughter-in-law are also missing.

Photos: Wimberley devastated by surge of storms

McComb received the news as he and his wife were in Maui, Hawaii, celebrating their 44th wedding anniversary. They are now trying to catch a flight back to Texas to be with their son who is currently at a hospital in San Antonio recovering from a broken sternum, broken rib, and a collapse lung.

More: Severe weather rolls through South Texas

McComb says his son's family was staying at a river house with other couples in the Wimberley area when a wall of water took the home off it's foundation. It's among an estimated 300 homes that were swept away by the flooding.

McComb says at some point the families were all together but then hit possibly a bridge or embankment and were all separated. Jonathan was able to get to the bank and was found. His wife, Laura, and two children 6-year-old Andrew and 4-year-old Leighton have not been heard or seen.

"Right now it's still a state of shock," McComb said. "We're a family of faith. It's in the Lord's hands. We believe in miracles, but we also believe in reality. We are praying for the best.

"We hope Jonathan has a quick and painless recovery, and we hope they find Laura and the children and the many others that I'm sure are going through the same thing as a result of this flood."

Been across that bridge lots while surveying in the area.

I think the losses will be mounting in the coming days.

Very interesting and dangerous area. No two floods are the same there. You can count on them being bad, though.

Looks like Cuero is next.

Barry I think that bridge was built in like 1990. There was a low water crossing there before. It was an off system project.

I just came back from a walk to take a look at the Guadalupe. Just incredible and it appears to be down about ~10 feet from where it peaked. The rope swing that is usually right at rivers edge is a good 30 or so feet in the river.

Didn't last long, did it?

I remember seeing a sign by a huge oak tree on the Fischer Store road that said the tree was the biggest live oak... (Can't remember if it was the county or state)

Well damn, I was gonna post on the exceptional fallout of late spring migrant songbirds here this morning, grounded en-mass by the overnight storms. But, I ain't gonna go into details, little kids lost their lives last night frown
