Not one of these taxes existed 60 years ago, & our nation was one of the
most prosperous in the world.We had absolutely no national debt, had a large
middle class, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.




What happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'

60 yrs ago there was no universal health care in canada,nor was there cpp and old age pension not to mention ei and welfare or them home owner grants the goverments like to pass out 6months before every election etc etc etc etc. Don't go blame the politicians for what all of us have been slurping up at the public trough...As the baby boomer gen ages they are becoming more and more of a drain on our resorces and economy Perhaps we should start euthinizing all the old people.....

Let me think about that....what do you consider to be old?? It will help me determine my outlook on the idea.

Those old baby boomers built everything you have, kid. Governemnt expenses could be cut in half by any rational-thinking individual who has been used to living within his means. A huge portion of the taxes in existence today go to pay for the administration of the taxes themselves in a system so convoluted it defies description. Of course many of the taxes are disguised by being called "fees for services". When a service is mandated, it is a service no more. GD

Nope, lots of corporations and CEOs don't pay taxes....status FNs have equality with them...most urban FNs and Metis pay taxes same as everyone else. :-)

I realize there are more taxes. I also know that our standard of living has increased over the same time period as well. Yes, our government wastes a lot of money and there is no doubt rationalization of all government entities is needed.

Now that is funny and true

I can, but we spell it "F-I-L-T-H" here.

We are lucky...at least we don't have dictators yet.
