Sent in a vari x III 4.5-14x40 matte a/o for clarity issues Got the email today to call them with options on replacement Went through their options on the website and really don’t see an a/o option that seems ok Should be an interesting phone call tomorrow We will see what happens
I’m on the edge of my seat

🤣
Well at least they didn’t send it back to you twice with a BS list of things that checked out ok. And no it wasn’t a vari x model it was one of there newer models. I will however give them credit for the third try. It’s been working for a couple years now. I’m interested in what they do for you cause I got a vari x III that needs to go in.
So you actually want an AO over a side focus? Why?
well here is the answer...... they offered me a vx3hd 4.5-15x40 with side focus and windplex reticle or $750 credit to the scope of my choice with what i have in the stable i think i am going with a vx3hd 3.5-10x50 with illuminated hunt plex reticle and cds....... $50 out of pocket on my end
I enjoy that they are still making a TMR SFP reticle, with M1 MOA turrets in 4.5-14x. To add even more fhuqking HILARITY,Midway once again has 'em on Sale. Hint.

Just sayin'..............
Sounds like they were very reasonable. That old scope would have never been worth $750 today
Agreed on them being reasonable
Put the money toward a vx5hd 3-15x44

I'm sure that's $750 against MSRP...best bet would be to swap it for the current XV3HD equivalent, sell it, and buy an Elite 4200 4-16x.

And get into another discontinued scope, but from a company with awful customer service and a shady warranty policy
You’ll be money ahead to sell the NIB replacement scope and get a real one .
What's wrong with Bushnell's customer service? I've never had a problem with them....granted, I haven't used them in several years. As far as scopes go, I'd much rather have a Japanese 4200 than any variation of a Vari-X III or VX3 (not to mention they're typically considerably cheaper).
Had a Bushie LRTS Gen2 '18x that didn't track or repeat out of the box(though MUCH better than my recent Reupold MK5 HD's "performance") and sent it in. Never heard from them, other than to opt G3,of which they sent me a NIB specimen, less ANY questions or replies. Hint.

Was/am curious as to the what/why,but can't complain and that glass is still running fine. So I bought more. Hint.

Just sayin'.............
Have had excellent results from zeiss v4’s lately May go in that direction
Good to hear you were taken care of. I’ve had a similar experience as well.
I will agree Leupolds customer service is fantastic. I recently sent a an old gloss AO scope in. Anything to do with the AO can not be repaired anymore. Zero parts available for that. I have lost track of the number of Leupold scope I have sent in for friends, family, and myself that don't hold zero. The problem is if you want a lite weight scope that does not have a Soda can size Ocular bell there are not a lot of choices. Leupold's are some of the lightest scopes out there. Many scope manufactures do not have a true Lifetime warranty. Leupold and Burris certainly do. SWFA does but they sell mostly fixed power scopes. Maven does offer a true lifetime warranty, but will they stay in business they're kinda new to industry. I contacted Millett recently you can't even pay for service on a scope if you are not the original owner. Zeiss and Swarovski do not offer a lifetime warranty maybe you don't need it when you spend that kinda money on a scope. Going forward I am seriously considering Burris for new scopes. I have looked at other manufactures with lifetime warranty and then read the specs. All the options are so heavy including Burris.

I’ll second that…

Make that will not be repaired anymore. I have an A.O. scope that has problems not related to the A.O. and got the Starkist tuna line: "Sorry Charlie...." frown

Probably a wise decision, over anything Leupold.

How curious-
January, sent in a gloss VX11 ultra-light 3-9x 33/AO for cleaning. After 15 years of ownership, adjustments dragged (surprise!). Instructed do not replace. Got it back seven weeks later.
Cleaned, lubed, springs and windage turret replaced. Sent in for cleaning only, I suspect a little heat and exercising of the turrets and it would have been good.
Nice little scope, sat on a low mileage Miroku Winchester 52 repro since both were new.
Those AO Leupolds were not very durable. I eventually broke all 5 of mine. The last one was a 3.5-10 Vari- X III.
The reticle fell out of it!
I really liked it in my rimfire they promised me that they could fix it and not replace it. I got the same email. I told them to put it back together and send it to me, i would find a 3rd party to fix it.
They had already disposed of it.
They sent me a VX5 to replace it which i traded off.
Cleaned and serviced you'll be ok. The one I have has a tube issue. I can correct it myself and make it serviceble but it would have been nice to have a new tube per the lifetime warranty.

Some of the bad luck or more likely poor products are amazing to me as far as AO Leupold's go. I'd have to dig pretty deep to get the count on the AO model Leupold's I own but I'm thinking it would be somewhere near 20. Yea I'm an old guy.

I have 8X, 10X, 12X, 3-9. 3.5-10, 4-12. 4.5-14, 16X, 6-18, and 6.5-20's and have had issues with a grand total of 1 due to the AO. These scopes are used primarily on varminters for prairie dogs but many of them are used on hunting rifles.

I also own a 3-9 Leupold compact that has had a turret turned on it 3 times. The first time when I first sighted in the rifle, and the second time to adjust for a new barrel, 3rd time to adjust to a new bullet. This i scope is on a 7 Lb 2oz 30-338 that has been from the US to Mexico, to Africa multiple times.

I have had my issues with Leupold and that seems to continue. But only 1 attributed to the AO.

Hell of a business plan to just walk away from a product just to get you into a different product that doesn't really fix the real problem. TRACKING
Well to clarify My issue was with the clarity of the glass It was just hazy A/o wasn’t even the issue But for what it’s worth They swapped me out for a vx3 hd 3.5-10x50 cds illuminated huntplex reticle for an even swap I really can’t complain to much

That that scope have parallax adjustment?
No sir They didn’t have a suitable scope I wanted with parallax adjustment So I just decided to go with the scope I mentioned in its place A zeiss v4 will replace the adjustable objective scope I sent in Out of pocket of course butb satisfied with how it turned out Getting to try out 2 scopes I didn’t have
Exactly what i went through. I told them 3.5 on low end. Had to have parallax adjust
