My wife is Polish and I’m a Louisiana coonass. My career ruined my 1st marriage after 18 yrs. Life goes on. Me and my wife are one month apart in age, and we met on the internet. She was still in the military, stationed at fort polk. At the time I was doing a lot of hunting in Jasper, TX. I had to pass through Polk on the way to the lease sooooo…after several months I ended up being VERY delayed getting to jasper, also getting back home, depending on what duty she was assigned. When she got out of the army we moved in together and got married the next year and we ain’t looked back. She’s awesome, her and my kids love each other to death. How she came to the US of A and ended up being a combat veteran in our military is quite a story.
We rode the same school bus. We didn’t get together until after high school, though.
Met Laura over a sow Griz in Wyoming.

My pickup line was "First bear?"

She had legs longer than than a giraffe... and an ass like a pair of ripe cantaloupes.
In law school. Mutual interest in fast cars.
In college at the bar of one of the few Mexican restaurants (Los Hermanos) that existed in San Luis Obispo California in 1984. Her house mate, Eduardo, was pals with my neighbor Karen...
Actually met my wife in a internet chat room before dating sites on the internet was even a thing. I met her in an America Online chat room on dial up internet about 24 years ago. Chatted with her online off and on and talked to her on the phone some for close to a year before ever meeting her in person...We both even dated other people during that time frame, but both just enjoyed talking to each other as friends. Had a lot in common. I lived in Texas at the time and she was in Arizona.

She planned a trip to go to Vegas with one of her girl friends, and invited me to fly out to meet her in person, which I did, and we just hit it off. We spent 4 days together in Vegas, and a couple of weeks later she was coming to Visit me in Texas, and a couple of weeks after that I was flying to Arizona to visit her... Then she decided to move to Texas to live with me. Been together ever since and have moved to Arizona to be closer to her family..
I don't drink and can't dance. Met my wife in a honkytonk dance hall bar.
Met her at a 35th birthday party for my buddy.

Friends of friends of friends deal.

Lot of common interests, shes sexy as hell, didn't bat an eye when I told her Im a gun nut and didn't want kids.

Buncha years later, shes still the best thing that ever happened to me.
Met online. Plenty of fish
Both in places momma said nobody'd ever find a good woman.

Momma was right.....

It took me a long time to realize this, and I was embarresed for a time but after swallowing my pride, I signed up on e-harmony. It’s really hard for a 40yr old man to find “the one” in bar rooms. Don’t get me wrong, you can have a blast if you know what I mean, but 90% of it is short term, and some of us don’t have the time for that. I’ve learned if your’e honest in your interests and so on when making your profile, it's hard to go wrong when trying to find someone on the internet. Ive dated for a while by meeting women the old school way and nothing good came out of it.
College students - her group was having a Sadie Hawkins date event - a hayride. She asked me to be her date. 65 years ago.

That's awesome. It's nice to hear positive things on here, good job keeping each other in line throughout the years! Congrats.
She was at a bowling alley watching her Dad bowl in his work league. I was just a kid hanging out in the bowling alley playing pinball. That was 1976. Got married in 1981. Still together through thick and thin almost 43 years later.

Ron
At school, my senior year. Thirty-four years later still together.
She saved me from myself God bless her.
Met in a dancehall, yesterday was the 40th anniversary of our first date. What did we do to celebrate? Went to a dancehall to see Josh Ward. We be married 38 years August 1

Match.com for us, she a recent widow, and me freshly discarded after 34 years of marriage. In our case, the system worked very well. Plenty of fish for certain.
High school classmates, started dating at 15, married after college at 22, 4 kids, a life altering disease, many lessons along the way, now 51, best friends/soul mates, forever!
Stationed in Savannah, my roommate was getting married and asked me to be his best man. Small family wedding in the post chapel. That's where I met her, according to her our first date was the next St Patricks day about a month later. She and friend came up from Daytona, I was the "escort" after the parade and was clueless.....scheming women. Been 41 years now.
My buddy Danny’s younger sister, Carol.
I knew her name, but that was all. I was at the Ft Bedford Dance and asked her if she had seen her brother lately. Danny and I would usually get together there and have a couple beers before we headed for P-ville and the Summer Nationals.
While we were talking a slow dance started, and I asked her to dance.
I knew that “Footloose” was gonna be at the Drive In Friday. I asked her out while we were dancing and she agreed.
I didn’t say anything to Danny about this. Friday evening I picked her up in my Monte Carlo and we went in the Drive In about dusk.
Now I learned from The Old Man. When you get parked before the movie, you get out a bottle of Windex and some paper towels and clean the windshield. I was doing this and saw Danny sitting 4 rows back!😳
I told Carol, “I’ll be right back” and walked back to do his windshield!😀 His date for the evening was a 6 pack. I knew why he was there!
Carol and I had a pleasant evening. I’m always a gentleman with the ladies. I dropped her at her door and asked her out a second time. In a few months time we started going steady, and about a year later I bought her a ring.😍
We spent 24 happy years together.
Reon
High school friend. Never dated. Been married 27 years now
San Joaquin Delta College (JC) Sept. 1971 went out in Oct. Married 12/28/1971. 52 yrs.
Friends set us up......and I never forgave them..... :^)
Rolled in on a Friday night just about midnight. Ordered a beer, checked out the dance floor and saw her dancing with a couple other girls. She spotted me, came over and asked me to dance with her, told her she has the bluest eyes i've ever seen seen, kissed her, left with her, been together for 30 years. I wouldn't have what we have or be alive without her. Incredible wife.

I was at the store she worked at, and had to pee.
She was coming out of the bathroom as I walked in, it stunk so bad I spun
around leave, and fell. Knocking myself out.
When I came to she was kneeling over me, and I thought it was an angel.

That's what I told our daughter one night at supper, when she ask how we met.

Actually she worked with my sister, who fancies herself a matchmaker (divorced).
She gave me a number and said "Call this girl, I like her. You will too. She cooks, and changes the oil in her car."

30 years ago last November I knocked on her parents door, my life has been
better ever since.
Met at church. Knew each other for about 4 years before we got together. It's good to have a wife with the values as you.

Been married 28 years.
We knew each other in school but she was two years older then me so we didn't "date"

After my senior year I volunteered to coach a little league baseball team since I loved the game but had no connection to the league.

My now wife attended one of our games that was hosted in her home town and we started talking. Catching up since she left my high school two years prior.

About a year later I asked her to marry me and move in with me
Cold approach.

Gave her my card, told her to give me a call.

She did.
At a New Year's dance, put on by a feed/lumber store, for their customers.
We danced a bit, she was mad at her Dad, I said I'd take her home.
It was snowed in, and by the time I got her home by the only open road, it was 54 miles - each way.
I'd known her Dad and Grandad (an old cattle trader) for some years, so I asked for a date (she denies this), and showed up the following Friday.
That was Jan 5, 1974 - we got hitched Dec 20, 1975. 50 years together, married 48.
My old lady aunts swore it would never last - sometimes I think they were right! laugh

I tell her that the only guys who married her, or her sisters, were the guys who could find their house the second time.

Met Kathy in a city park, we've been married 56 years this coming June.
Bio 101 class in college. Long hair down to her ass was a turn on for me. Fifty one yrs to date.
Met thru plenty of fish!
Blind date in spring of ‘70, engaged a year later and married summer of ‘72 so it’ll be 52 years this summer.

Through 21 years of active duty and deployments, 9 moves including 2 overseas moves with 2 kids, she hasn’t shot me or tried to kick me out yet. 😁

She's a keeper it sounds like. My wife was about ready to kill me after 9 years of active and just a couple of moves
Blind date set up by my sister. Lived 500 miles away. Proposed 2 months later and married 2 months after that. Today is our 35th wedding anniversary.
In a bar, her ex introduced us . . . . . . . . .19 years ago today.
High School, 45 years ago
Good story, except for the part where it stunk so bad!😀 What did your daughter say?😀
Did you do the Ft Bedford Dance Sunday Night?
Me and Danny and a few others were always there. Friday night we went spotting, usually Lovely or Dry Ridge and New Baltimore. Saturday night we were at the Schellsburg Dance.
Mostly killing time before we headed to P- ville and the races!
Carol usually drove herself to Schellsburg, and after the dance she went home, and the rest of us drank beer, talked, and occasionally raced at Pleasantville.
It was a great time to be young with a good car, good friends, and guns and hunting on the weekends.
As I gave into her charms, the races and dances started getting less important!😀 My buddies said I got “pussy whipped”!😀
Life would’ve been simpler if I hadn’t gotten in too deep, but we had a great life together, and Ben is certainly one of my greatest blessings.
I wish it would’ve worked out better for her and I. I always thought by now we’d be getting older together, and enjoying grandkids.

I was writing scripts for a teevee show called Barnaby Jones, filmed at Goldwyn Studios, in Hollywood. My future wife was an executive assistant on the show. After about the third script, I asked her out for dinner; things progressed, we fell in love and later married.

We had a very good marriage for 43½ years until she died from complications of Alzheimer's dementia. I was extremely lucky to have had her with me those years.

In church
My dad told me not to tell them everything.
That’s good advice wabi
recovering from divorce #3, and dragged out of a few beers with a buddy to 'meet some gals'. Met this redhead, talked a bit, danced a bit, and well, there I was. Married now 31 years.
I bought mine

All joking aside, it was like 1minute's deal, except it was Ichthyology class. Mine had hair that long too, and was wearing those spandex jogging legging things, which showed her butt off to magnificent effect. I think I was immediately enamored. We started out as study friends, each dating others, and then it turned out better. Over a quarter century now.

Met Fall 1984 Chem101 Shima Building. Didn't ask her out till we both got Jobs across the street at Mervyns a year later and I saw her folding panties in the Lingerie Dept and I made my move.🤣😂🤣

So sorry for your loss.
I was just out of the Army in 1988, saw her walking down a sidewalk. Stopped and introduced myself, been married 31 years. We have 3 great kids that became productive members of society. I retired at 49 and she is now making more $$ than I ever day. Knew she had potential....

Seen a bicycle in his garage one day, asked him what that was about, he said that was her new car LOL.

Reon,
Daughters didn't know the truth, but they didn't believe me. (For some reason.)

My wife sat there grinning and shaking her head.
Smiling, wanting to laugh, and strangle me at the same time.

Never went to the dances, I really hate crowds and group functions.
Freshman year of College, 1988. We were both 18. Met over Spring Break and have been together ever since. Married now for 28 years and have 2 amazing boys. She's the most selfless person I've ever known. Couldn't have asked for a better wife, or mother to my children. She's also extraordinarily beautiful....inside and out. She takes good care of herself and has aged very well. Looks much the same as when we met 36 years ago. I thank God every day for her.

Ohhh!! Forgot to add.....she loves guns and shooting, and has voted twice for Trump. Soon to be thrice!! Ha!
Texas Tech, 1984. Been married 39 years.

Applause!
At work.
Seems to happen a lot there.
Someone told me we would be a good match both of us recenly divorced from a bad marriage.
I had never seen her. Called her a couple of times and she turned me down flat. I was determined to at least meet so I went to her office and knocked on the door and introduced myself. Been married 30 years.
Encouraging to read humble men writing so positively about their wives.

Congrats to you all
When I finally settled down enough to be domesticated, I married my secretary and did the kid thing until I lost her to lung cancer. I had to admit that I rather liked being married. Being a minimalist drinker, the bar scene wasn't working and peeling someone off a bar stool looked like a dead end anyway. Then I took a lady out to dinner and she was complaining that there weren't hardly any good men around anymore and she couldn't even find one on Plenty of Fish. Oh, what's that I asked? A while later I decided to put up a few pictures and a profile. Well, holly smokes, hundreds of hits and I got a great one. Eight years and counting toward forever.
Met at work.

I was still married the first time when I started there, but that didn't even last a year. When I left her after a few months her Dad and all six of her brothers told me they wouldn't have hung around as long as I did.

The second time couldn't be better. First time we spoke was when she asked if I wanted in on that payweek's check pool. Gorgeous smile, long curly black hair. I didn't hit the check pool but didn't much care either. Turned out her Dad and my Grandpa had known one another, had even been to the shooting range at one point to see who was better. My Grandpa won. Our Mother's knew one another from church. This June will be 38 years, three sons and two grandsons.

After some of the cringy stuff I've pulled over the years it almost feels like I don't deserve the life I have with my wife.

Eh, nuts to that. We deserve the life we've built for ourselves.
1st semester freshman year in college. I was on crutches from knee surgery and she held the door open for me while leaving lunch...that was 43 years ago, been together ever since.
In elementary school; I was the principal and she was transferred from another school to be my secretary. She worked in the classroom and there were budget cuts causing her to either transfer or lose her job. We both were in bad marriages and once divorced, decided we could tolerate each other. Been married 43 years, 3 boys, his, hers and ours ( not really they’re all ours). The second time is the charm. The most important thing is to find a good woman and don’t be unevenly yoked.
I was working for the Post office and the time and there was a new bunch of temporary Christmas help. This was the Postal Concentration Center that handled all Pacific APO mail. The foreman told me to go work the third floor and get all the loaded dollies to the elevator so they could go to the basement and into the proper conexes for shipment. While doing this I looked across the room and WOW! Who was this cutie? I saw there were a couple of full dollies so I go, say high and introduce myself. Her response was very friendly and before the night was over I asked her for a date. Less than a month later we were living together, just me, her and surprise, her three kids. My family raised unholy hell when they found out she was only separated from her husband. Big trouble they said. They also said we'd never last. Well, after her divorce we lived together for two years, married and had 52 years total before she passed four years ago. I've done a few dates but nothing to write home about. Problem is, once you've had perfection, mediocre just doesn't cut it.

Met at co-ed private High school @ 12, dating at 16, married in 1988.

I went on a fishing tournament with a good friend , there was supposed to be a after party and my buddy had said a couple of girls we knew were planning on being there, those girls showed up for the bonfire and after tournament party and they brought a friend. the friend and I hit it off and hung out all evening. that was 36 yrs ago this coming may.
Reading these, it's very interesting.

Sad to read of loved, lost spouses.

Inspiring to read of how long many have been married.

Shocking!

jar is a great example.
36 freaking years!!!
Holy crap he must be ol.......met mine 30 years ago, married 28 (at almost 26)
Crazy how damn old we've gotten. The mind refuses to accept it, have to be constantly reminded!

Totally agree. It's nice to read positive things, they are getting harder to come by these days on the net. So sorry to hear about those with loved ones lost. It's just a little break fella's. We will all see our loved ones again.
I'd eat breakfast at her restaurant every morning hung over. She'd come out and preach to me and one morning she spilled hot coffee in my lap. She got her blue eyed wild man and I got saved, we'll be married 38 years March 24.
Chemistry class my junior year of high school. She sat in the next row of desks. She had orange red hair, fair skin, and she wore short skirts. We went to a summer program in Macon and took a biology elective. We dissected a fetal pig together. We fell in love. We went together all through college and went off to graduate programs. Married in 75. Going on 49 years now. Four kids, two grandkids. She is the best thing that ever happened to me.
E - Harmony. 14 years of bliss come September. My only go round.
Both of us being fresh born-again, we met at an evangelism event. It was love at first sight 41 years ago. I squeeze her every day and still marvel at her beauty. She is 61, I am 65.

Same here. Was the first time trying the online thing. Had a hard time trusting whatever algorithm's those services use, but it absolutely nailed it!
Plenty of Fish, like some others here.
Engineers told me a new hottie over at print area.
Went and checked her out, was merely OK.

My work mom was talking to her a month or so later, and she was crying.
Evidently ran over a squirrel on the way to work.
I laughed when she told me, she thought I was an azzhole.

NYE party we ran into each other again and asked her out.
I was her boss, times have changed.

That was 27 years ago.
