I voted for Cruz, and he carried this state handily. But I have long since given up on believing anything any politician says about his faith or anyone else's lack of it. Too many times, it has proven to be false or not entirely Bible-based. I only know Cruz, Trump, and Hitlery FTM in the context of the realm of politics, and that is how I decide my vote. I have serious doubts about any faithful Christian ever rising to the level of presidential contender anymore, the way the system works. I even have doubts about such a person even seriously thinking about trying, and I don't care for being pandered to. I've lost no emotional energy on this one and will vote for Trump I expect. I know enough about Hillary and the left that I'd default to the other candidate just short of Attila the Hun.
But two things: 1) Trump has had very inconsistent political loyalties if even that. He won by being the bull in the establishment, political, china shop and what he will actually do in policy and especially in regard to the supposed Supreme Court nominees is questionable.
2) Trump used establishment tactics in the character assassination in regard to Cruz and insinuation in regard to cruz's father and Oswald. And most here bought it like the bright bulb in Indiana, like a catfish would stink bait. Like "hope and change."
Let's hope Trump can beat Hillary, put an oar in the water and slowly change the Queen Mary's course. But that's an awful lot to hope for and I'm not convinced it will be done.

3/4 of the board knew Cruz didn't have a chance to get elected fairly, and also were offended by his plan to push for a contested convention. It was a horrible plan that showed contempt for the party and for the voters. That would have put another layer of division in an already tumultuous Republican party.
I'm glad Cruz left the way that he did, and did not try to push it to the convention with delegates planning for a 2-3-5th round ballot change. There would have been no way to bring the party together after that.
The Republican party must start working for the American peoples best interest first before it can get back to its conservative roots. When even the conservatives in the party are pushing for open boarders, TPP, NAFTA, and keeping donors closer than voters... there must be a change or the people will never have a fair shake.
That is why so many conservatives went for Trump this round. We've lost faith in the direction of the Republicans, and the Republicans are steering conservatives, instead of the grass roots conservatives steering the Republican party.
Trump will be a force to push the Republican party, and the Federal Gov't in an alternate path, a path that will hopefully keep the representation of the people as a main priority. Because business as usual has been a complete failure for 28 years. It took that long for the electorate to be fully fed up and ready to make a leap toward the unknown...
What is also unknown, is how many of the friendly wagers that have been made over the last few months will be honored, or welched on.

So-called "religious leaders" should put their money where their mouths are and GIVE UP their IRS 501(c)(3) tax exemption and free themselves to preach from the pulpit and tell their congregation how to vote. That would end the current mess of their prohibition against directly campaigning for/against political candidates. I don't respect any religious leader/pastor/preacher who passes around the offering plate and exhorts his congregation to "pray for our leaders!". Religion is the #1 qualifier for about 10% of the population, unfortunately 10% percent can't get a president elected, you have to have at least a good part of the rest on board. Like it or not, constant preaching is a major turn off to a large portion of the population. Cruz went over the top and lost a lot of votes that way. Obviously not CC, but he's one vote in a sea of 300+ million.
You can run for office, be a christian, and not constantly preach to people. You can be against abortion and actually talk about other things. A large portion of the electorate of the U.S., voters that are needed to actually win an election, don't want to hear someone preach to them and will tune you out if you start.

"Christians" don't do themselves any favors by questioning and condemning the faith of others. People just get tired of the holier than thou attitude, they hate having their personal faith attacked if they don't vote for the candidate that has the backing of the holier than thou hypocrites. Just about all of us have a warm home to come home to, lights to turn on, food in the kitchen, gas in our cars, so many magnificent things. Just about all of it was invited in america, Just about all of it was a result of people being free, people being able to do what they wanted with their property, You owe the very circumstances you live in at this very moment because of the amazing country that our founders created. Without which who the hell knows what our lives would be but I can guarantee you one thing it would not be anywhere near what it is now. Stop and think about that just for a second. George Washington, Ben Franklin, John locke, What these men put into motion we owe and incredible debt of gratitude to for what they created. For all you athiest's out there I believe our nation was inspired by god. I believe god has blessed this country with more prosperity than the world has ever known.
I believe the reason God, with a capital G, has blessed this country is because we have stood for the right things. We have only asked for enough room to bury our dead after a war. Somehow freeing others has made us prosper even more. The individual has been empowered everyone prospers more,

I would fear God as well if Lied As much as Cruz. I watched many of his speeches as he outright lied about other candidates positions. Since I am a constitutionalst over the years I have asked myself over and over why Cruz gives me the creeps since My positions would be in line with his. I believe the reason God, with a capital G, has blessed this country is because we have stood for the right things. We have only asked for enough room to bury our dead after a war. Somehow freeing others has made us prosper even more. The individual has been empowered everyone prospers more,
I for one think character matters, I think honesty matter, I think fidelity matters. The Constitution is merely a piece of paper. If our leaders don't have character if they don't have virtue the constitution is not enough to restrain them. I don't think Donald Trump has character or virtue and for me that MATTERS ALOT.

The real legacy of the Puritans is that peculiar strain of American progressivism that seeks to remake the world in its vision of perfection. It is no coincidence that this legacy finds it most fervent expression in New England today.

I consider myself to be a God fearing man and I couldn't stomach Cruz much at all something about him rubbed me the wrong way something fierce and deep down i think he was pretty two faced.
My 83 year old grandfather who probably isn't the most reliable source when it comes to Christianity once told me to watch out for people who sit in the front row of church on Sunday as they are usually the first ones to screw you on Monday morning.
