RNC lawyers look at options for replacing Trump

The Republican National Committee is taking the weekend to reevaluate its strategy while lawyers examine the legal hurdles to replacing Donald Trump with another nominee, according to Republicans in touch with the committee.
On Friday night, RNC chair Reince Priebus told an aggrieved state party chair that he realized a public dumping of Trump by the party would sink the nominee’s remaining chances. He said the committee would take 48 hours to reevaluate its election strategy, according to a Republican operative briefed on the conversation.

The RNC saw the departure of two low-level field staffers in the states on Friday night and is expecting more, according to the operative.
Meanwhile, the RNC has lawyers examining the possibility of putting forth another nominee one month from Election Day, with ballots already printed and early voting in progress in some states, according to two other Republicans. “RNC has an army of lawyers right now looking at Rule 9 and ballot questions,” said one, a Republican strategist. The RNC’s Rule 9 pertains to filling vacant nominations.
But the lawyers have concluded that Trump would have to cooperate in any attempt to replace him, said another Republican in touch with the committee. “The fact remains that he can only be replaced if he quits or dies. And he’s declared today he’s not planning on doing either.”
Even as they consider eleventh-hour options, party officials are urging local operatives to remain calm and see if Trump can weather the storm.

Matt Pinnell, the RNC's state party director, has been fielding calls from chairmen around the country and urging them to stay the course, at least for now.
Steve House, the Colorado GOP chairman, texted Pinnell on Saturday morning with questions, including one how to potentially replace a nominee once his name has been printed on ballots that are about to be sent out.
"I asked if we should change course in any way regarding resources, strategy and the answer was, 'No'," House said. "So we're just going to keep doing what we're doing and see what happens in the next 24 hours, especially with the debate."
RNC spokesman Sean Spicer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I know you guys don't want to hear this but I still think Trump may be off of the ticket by midweek. The down-stream ticket will get crushed if they don't. You nominated a seriously flawed candidate and the results will be huge and long lasting.

They cannot "Fire" or replace him post convention. Other option's do not exist for either party.

Mr. Trump was always a flawed candidate, but this was just too much. I can't see voting for Sec. Clinton no matter what happens but I am absolutely having a difficult time deciding to vote for him. I know I am not alone. I just cannot see Mr. Trump as a President of this great country. I believe that if he does not have a great debate this week, Gov. Pence will remove himself from the ticket, thereby killing the possibility of a Trump win, if it is not already finished. I will not vote for Secretary Clinton for many of the same reasons, which means I may not vote for the first time in fifty years.

How in this world did we as Americans get to a place where the four candidates for President of the United States are all so flawed?

Trump may be running on the republican ticket but he is NOT a republican. He is a populist and the last thing the RNC wants is someone that real Americans are supporting. The RNC will do anything it can to get it's way and leave behind all of the Americans who want someone else other than them.

If the Democrats had a candidate that had any true legitimacy, Trump would be toast...would have been toast long ago actually. That he isn't says nothing so much about Trump as it does about how worthless Hillary is as even a Democrat candidate.

And Teddy might very possibly have made Office #1 had he not killed his escort girl. Certainly Willy had slicked things up with his infidelities and lies to the point where I don't think it would be a serious detriment to a Democrat candidate these days. And perhaps a slimy sort-of-Republican can still manage enough support to win this thing. But TRump, in the polls, has been clawing to maintain an even pull against Hillary, and I really wonder if he can pull it out with whatever else is undoubtedly out there. And if they don't have anything more, I'm sure he will pro-actively keep saying things that douche whatever headway he makes in the next 30 days.

Donald had a rally in Council Bluffs last week and had over 1000 people inside the building alone with folks standing outside. On the same day Hillary had one in downtown Des Moines at the Plaza (Cowles Commons) and she drew 200 people to an open forum with stores and buildings all around. That's 200 people at a lunch time rally open to the public in a public location.

That's a 5 to 1 ratio of attendees to Donald and Hillary's rallys in Iowa. If the democrats would stop their cheating, Donald is going to clean her and the democrats clock in November. I don't know of any other candidates in the republican party that could pull that off.
