Am on a low sodium diet.
Anyone have GOOD recipe for home made BBQ sauce without salt?
Thanks! Virgil B.
not sure you can make a 'good' sauce without salt. Commercial folk seem to have ingredients that are not available readily to the home producer.
I don't bother to make BBQ sauce, other than mop sauces and a mustard based Carolina sauce. Too many good commercial ones.
Thanks for the info Sam!
I can live with a "little" sodium, I've just got to take it easy, I don't use BBQ sauce "that" often.

I just found out from the Doc that I have to cut back on the salt. I plan to seek out products that are a little heavier on the vinegar and less on the sodium.
1 tb Vegetable oil
1 Sm Onion, coarsely chopped
2 c No-salt tomato sauce
1/2 c Light molasses
1/4 c Cider vinegar
1/4 c Dijon mustard
1 1/2 ts Fresh lemon juice
1 t Liquid smoke
1 t Garlic powder
1/2 ts Cayenne pepper
1/4 ts Tabasco
3 pn Allspice
Heat oil is a heavy medium skillet over med-high heat.
Add onion and cook until translucent, stirring
occasionally. This should take about 8 minutes. Add
all remaining ingredients and simmer until thickened,
about 15 minutes. Stir frequently.
Raptor,
Thanks! Will give it a try.
