I am wondering what if any lighter weight 20" barrels are out there. Something somewhat similar to the criterion hybrid contour. I don't want a pencil barrel, but I don't want excess metal under the handguard. something with just enough shoulder to hold a 750 gas block then hold that all the way back. maybe like .8 all the way back under the handguard. I bought a criterion hybrid its an ok barrel so far I just would have rather it been non chrome lined so it could be a little more accurate. any other options out there??

If you want a .223 BHW. Another place I have used for lightweight AR barrels is Hart.

that black hole barrel is along the lines of what I am looking for. lilja makes an ar 740 contour, but its nearly $500 for a barrel. hart looks like they will make just about anything buts its the same price as lilja. krieger does a DCM barrel for $420 that could have the meat under the handguard turned down i suppose. any other choices.

You didn't use logic or reason to get into this opinion, I cannot use logic or reason to get you out of it.

Built a lightweight 20" 6.8 a couple of years ago. I used a White Oak Armament barrel, they will turn it to any profile you want.
You can also use ADCO to profile a barrel for you. They do excellent work with a fast turn around. I usually get my gas block pinned while they have it as well.

White Oak sdm IMHOk, perfect balance for a 20" tube, and very accurate.

I'll second the White Oak Armament SDM barrel. I've had one and it balanced well and was very accurate. Hard to go wrong with WOA for the money.
