As an aside, our camp is less than 70 miles from the prison. I don't know if the area around the prison is like our county. but if it is, about half of the homes are seasonal, hunting/fishing or weekend camps. It could be weeks before someone reports a break in at a camp. By then they could have food, guns, and transportation out of the area (4 wheelers, boats maybe?)

Ever hear of Alis Ben Johns? He was a murderer on the run with his girlfriend a few years ago about 30 miles from here.
There were 100s of officers, helocopters, dogs for months looking for them. The Corp. even let them set a forest fire to burn off a point on Truman Lake where they suspected he was hiding.
The area where the manhunt was focused was rough but not too bad with lots of weekend cabins and camps but traversed with many roads and lots of year round residents.
It was surreal with roadblocks and an army of police.
It went on for several months and when he was finally captured(thanks to a barking dog)he was less than 10 miles from the center of the search area maybe closer to 5 miles. They even made a song about him.
