Gents, In 1965 when the 788 was an infant, I bought one in 22-250 Rem and used it to kill a lot of Chucks & Crows.
The Powerlokt HP Fact load was extremely accurate.
I learned later that the accuracy delivered by the 788 Rifle did not come entirely from the BBL, Action & stock , but indeed from a unique trigger mechanism used only in the 788.
This trigger had a much shorter "lock" time, meaning from the time the trigger was released, to the time the firing pin struck the primer, the lapse of time during that period was less and the Shooter had less time to wander off his sight picture.
I believe the 788 has the shortest lock time of all rifles manufactured, with the 110 Savage running second.
