Six or seven years ago, I saw a licensed FFL Dealer get taken down by the ATF for a straw purchase, at the old Austin Gun Show. I'm pretty sure they set that FFL Dealer up.
I do know that when I attend the big Tulsa Show every year, I can buy a long gun from a OK FFL Dealer because I live in a bordering state. Not sure about the law on a Face to Face, though.
But my thought is that it's damn sure not worth going to jail for. I don't take any chances, personally. I'm always suspicious when a deal is too good to be true. Sure wouldn't put it past ATF to run a sting like that.
