On my first two ARs I was convinced I needed quick release scope mounts so I got LaRue mounts for them. When it was time to scope my 7.62x39 AR I decided the odds were I'd never swap the mounts so I put one from SWFA on it. Bottom line is they work just as well as the more expensive LaRue mounts as long as you're not going to swap scopes.

I'd decide first what you want to do with the rifle, how your budget for the project looks and go from there. The only mount I've had problems with is the Armalite (this one is older so maybe they've changed) but it's lower than the LaRue and for me gave me issues...maybe I just have a fat face though.
