It has been bad there for a long time but with the January numbers just in, the city could hit 600 murders this year. In short, societal norms for any value of human life in the ghettos of Chicago have completely and totally collapsed.

Fatherless homes, complete dependence of the nanny state, a collapsed educational system, disdain for law enforcement and gang turf wars are all major factors.

As this gets worse, I predict that liberals will continue to use this for advancing gun control. The problem with that is the general public knows too well that this massive level of violence is concentrated to specific neighborhoods. Nothing new there. But despite all that, it is still unbelievable that this is happening in America. Chicago is essentially a 3rd world country now. It used to be a great city, like Detroit of the 1950s, but is now a total disaster top to bottom. What city is next?
