I haven't found one that will play streaming video, or maybe I just don't know how to use some of the other programs that are available.

There are several programs that will download them to your computer and then play them with VLC media player.
Keep them or delete afterward as you wish.

There is a Youtube Downloader for Firefox, and another Firefox downloader that works on many others.
