It's funny that colodog (my brother) and I each found a Marlin lever this weekend. Neither of us has ever had one before.

Mine is an 1897 Cowboy that I've had my eye on. The asking price for many weeks was too high for me to think about($1500), I didn't even ask to look at it. (I wonder if other potential buyers felt the same). As time went by the price dropped and yesterday it dropped again. After a close look this time, $650 and it's mine.

It turns out this one is a new, 2001 manufacture JM etc. No box but it sure did look unfired with beautiful wood. We took both levers out today and they are a bunch of fun! This one isn't going anywhere.

Skinner has a peep sight coming and then it will be time for some serious plinking.

BTW, Colodog's 39A is just as accurate as this one. I'm hoping my offspring can be enjoying this 1897 in another 50 or 60 years!

We all know advertising works, we just don’t think it works on US!
