The fit/finish, especially the individual bedding of the Fieldcraft is pretty impressive and I'm guessing it may result in more consistency....but that's not that hard of a thing to correct with a Montana. Both are great choices. Some options may appeal to some folks more than others, crf vs push feed, 3 position safety vs 2, 22" vs 21" barrel, 3" mag box, etc... If I was choosing between the two the biggest thing to evaluate is the stock fit. Both are great stocks, but the style of each is very different.
Note on a screw up in the comparison. I listed the Montana as a .243 when the one pictured for all weights was actually a .308...the Forbes weights were from a .243.
