I have never had a "bad" shooting Anschutz but I have had some that shot better than others. IMO it is more of a case of the shooters ability and expectations. Personally I would look at some used ones, there are a quite a few of the 54 series out there for less than $2200 but on the other hand buying retail does give bitching rights. Not sure if you will notice the accuracy enhancements off a bipod, except the Anschutz will have a much better trigger and trigger control is a big part of any competitive shooting.
