We fly in every year to a lake in northern SK. I have portaged in before. Only about 20 miles from the nearest road. You could not get to the lake via atv and I don't think you could do it afoot, unless you did some swimming.
The experience is great, especially when taking my kid in to something few have the opportunity to experience. We are just planning our trip for next week and rethinking some of the things we do. Trying to figure out how to better experience the area. Explore other lakes more. Considering investing in a much light canoe and portage out of our lake more.
