Still trying to figure out how they matted the receiver on the Excelsior. Does anybody know how it was done?


The receiver on the excelsior is "stippled" meaning it is hit with a tiny punch over and over again.

I have all 3 of these except the #2 is a Crescent grade and #3 is a solid frame and not a take down... Great choices!

Personally, talking base models, condition is everything but...

Expanding to fancy factory offering would be difficult... About anything with an early Marlin S pistol grip and perch belly and fancy wood and a shotgun buttplate.
