The use of bipods is just about socially mandatory for deer hunting in Scotland: they provide a steady rest for prone shooting and raise you above the heather and grass tussocks / clumps. However, they are quite heavy and can be quite bulky.

I have Harris bipods in the 9-13 inch leg length range. I like them a lot but they are rather heavy and are quite bulky, even when using a target rifle scaled rifle cover / slip. Does anyone have experience and recommendations for other, more compact, lighter weight bipods?

I like the simplicity and neatness of the connection method with the Harris system. I have seen the Javelin UK system on the web. It is expensive but light weight, particularly the 6 - 9 inch range one, which is too short for my needs. Additionally, to me, I am not so enamoured with the fixing system. It looks more bulky, adding depth and is not as neat and tidy as the Harris systems. At least to my tastes.

Cheers!
