It is actually one of his most believable story lines if you can thrust yourself backwards almost 30 years in technology. I found it to be among his best as far as following the premise. Sure more believable than "Earl" lying in waste in a coffin while Audie Murphy, Jordan, McGivern, and company arrived to save the day or other stories that require considerable "mind stretch" The Day Before Midnight story has some interesting twists while staying relevant for a 1980"s Doomsday book. Considering all the actual history that we have experienced it has remained in my mind for a couple of decades since I read it.
