I've not used Barnes 300's, they should be deadly on tough critters.

C&C 300's in a .45-70 are pretty good, not sure the 300 Barnes would add much.

The 250 TSX is lighter, can be pushed to 2,550 fps (Barnes Marlin load), is a proven killer. Due to less than optimal B.C.'s it's not an ideal LR bullet, although I've shot'em at 300 yds out of my 30" Browning BPCR primitive weapon. Fitted with a VX-3 3.5-10x40 CDS, calibrated for that load, it's really not that primitive. It'll shoot around 4-5" at 300 out of the Badger barrel, drops pretty fast beyond that.
