As I get older, I'm more appreciative of my llamas' benefits. I've got involved with our church's boy scout troop and have taken them on 2 pack trips so far with more planned. I haven't hauled along a cast iron skillet yet, but folding chairs and cots are sure nice on older bones.
Years ago, a friend and I backpacked into some lakes 8 miles back. While not real steep, that's a long ways to go. We had finished setting up camp when a man with 2 young daughters arrived and set up a few hundred yards from us. The girls were too young to carry much so Dad had packed 3 sleeping bags, one of the old spider type umbrella tents, and a cast iron skillet. I was impressed! He was one strong man.
