I shot a couple at extreme range when I was a kid hunting on family ranches in south Texas. That was 40 years ago and I still get my ass chewed for it. Since then the ranges have gotten shorter and shorter. I think my average right now is well under 100 yards, and may be under 50. On the other hand, 90% of my hunting in the last 30 years has been in western Washington or Hawaii, where longer shots are pretty uncommon.
