I just picked up a Kimber Montana in 308. I have a Silencerco Omega silencer that weighs ~14oz. The Kimber barrel is not threaded (yet). With the newer Montanas, the barrels are threaded at 7/16x28 and Kimber makes an adapter to 5/8x24 which would allow me to use my silencer (if I have the barrel threaded to 7/16x28. The barrel diameter is too small to thread it to 1/2x28).
Does anyone have experience with a suppressor on a Kimber Montana? Do I need to have the barrel cut down to 18” or 20” to be sufficiently stiff?
