That gal from Czechoslovakia that scored gold both in skiing and last night in snowboarding was pretty impressive too. Only woman to ever get gold in same Olympics in two different sports. I watched the snowboard contest, ,missed the skiing event a week ago.
I saw re-run of the skiing event last night, and she was not seriously considered in contention. When Vonn fell? and the lead went to someone else, who skied right before the Chech (skiing last), the announcer and everyone was already talking about the eventual Silver place winner "winning gold".
At the finish line, she didn't even know she had beaten the field until someone yelled "You won!" (By 1/100 sec).
She replied "How did that happen?"
