I have my old Remington 721 in 270 that I plan on re-barreling to a 280 AI. It has nothing to do with the barrel being bad, as a matter of fact it shoots fine. I have my Dad's Rem 700 270, so I figured I would change mine to something different. Could I buy a new gun cheaper than putting on a new barrel, yes probably?? But when I am done with a new barrel, stock and trigger I will have a semi custom rifle that will still be mine and will have something that means more to me other than just another gun.
