I recently bought a early 90's Remington 700 BDL and it has several cloudy marks/stains under the finish that I assume came from improper storage? These are the kind of marks that can be seen by rolling the rifle in the light and on one side it's in a pattern like it was laid on something. Those marks seem to have "sharper" edges than would come from a soft case that drew moisture. The other side is just as bad, but the markings don't have an exact pattern. Is there a way to draw the moisture out? I found an old post ( if i can find it again) on the interweb that said denatured alcohol can be used but with certain finishes to allow the moisture to mix and therefore evaporate.

Anyone have any been there input on this, or perhaps know what finish this vintage of 700 had and if it would withstand the aforementioned alcohol , or if that's even possible?
