I have that base and ring set up, made by Leupold that came on a 336. I stripped it off and installed an aluminum short rail and Burris rings for a Weaver style rail. Much lighter and it adjusts for ER. The original rings from Weaver work well, return to zero as well as others, and they are strong. They are a little sub par on appearance and they are hard to get the crosshairs perfectly level. It sometimes takes me two or three tries at leveling, but I like them.

Same here, it's hard to get lower than a Weaver rail, and low Weaver rings. I've got a Leupold M8-4x on my 336, and it works really well.
