This may be a repeat as I read it some years ago and just reread it. It's about the murder of two people on 'Angels Flight', a funicular in L.A. One of the victims is an African-American lawyer who is well known for suing the police for abuses. He has a lot of enemies. The other is a Hispanic woman who does housekeeping. It's the last trip of the night at 11 pm. As you can imagine the murder of the lawyer sets off a lot of emotion and some rioting. Detective Bosch and his team are directed to investigate. The case going to court in a few days that the lawyer was working on is about an abusive interrogation of a man for murdering a child. He was acquitted but now has a lawsuit against the city. The lawyer had gathered a lot of information and the murder sets off a huge investigation. The murdered child had been put through some other terrible experiences and Bosch ultimately gets to the bottom of things.

A fine book.
