There are many things to logically "respect" and be cautious of because of the harm they can do you. To me, "fear" is that step beyond logic, a visceral and uncontrollable reaction which is logically out of balance with the scale or probability of the thing triggering it.

One of the few things I truly fear is spiders. Oddly enough, one ran out onto my desk as I said that. Now the SOB is approximately 0.0001 inch thick, give or take. Another is drowning. Both are rooted in childhood trauma. Even though I can go back to a specific incident initiating each logically, I can't take the "zing" out of them.
