The new ones have torx screws that are a lot better than the old allen head screws. The design actually slightly tightens under recoil though and I have nearly stripped base screws before and did strip one completely once. I finally learned to take a block of wood and tap the base toward the but of the rifle. Just a couple tiny taps seem to make the bases screws loosen much easier.
