I have a friend that swears by his .270WSM. It replaced his 30-06. That said I have never been a fan of the WSM line of cartridges. Some that love them make some pretty wild claims about them and ballistic discussions will not make any difference in their perceived results. I'm not knocking them mind you. If that's your medicine then I'm happy for you. I have used the 30-06 and Win. .270 for many years and personally I can't see going to a short magnum version.
