I also thought the large dot would be an issue, but in practice I'm really liking it. The dot stands out nicely on animals, and doesn't seem too large for the degree of precision necessary for hunting. I suppose for a small varmint or target gun the dot could be a bit large, but it seems just right for big game hunting. Overall I really like the scope. If they were $500 instead of $1500 +, I'd probably own several more.
