They have been scarce here for about 7 years and they should be coming back any year now. Up in the interior they are back already.

Just got back from a work jaunt in the Delta-Tok region, and the bunny decline has begun(last year must have been the peak). Grouse numbers down as well. Should be a good winter to call fur up that way, as they're going to have to start working for dinner!
I'm with you on cooking snowshoes. Too much of a crap shoot, so when in doubt, pressure cook!
They ain't bad for small batches of sausage either. Pressure cook the quarters, and then strip off the meat. Add fat and season to taste, and grind it up; it's not too shabby.
I miss cottontails, as they eat way better, but, we gotta play the hand we're dealt.
