If you read into extreme range shooting many people use the 25x -30x scopes on 14-15-16 power -not 20-22-30x .
I also have a 4.5x14-44 zeiss conquest -- hands down my favorite scope .
No 'need' for a 30mm tube , but they're nice - easy to get behind/look through .
222 all the way for the American CZ .
Walking varminter type rifle something starting at 3x - 3.5x to 9x - 10x - 12x is nice when you stumble right up on a critter . Nothing wrong witha quality 3x9-40 scope -ever- , I have two 2x8-32 nikon monarch scopes that I really like , although they don't look as good as a 40mm on the CZ due to the highish rings/bolt throw .
