Love popcorn. Used to eat it by the bowlful. But after I cracked a third tooth biting down on an unpopped kernel, I gave it up for good. Three crowns at a thousand bucks a go.
Try this: just before you add the popcorn to the hot oil, add three squirts of Tabasco sauce. Tabasco corn is killer.
I've never added it to oil but I do like to douse my popcorn with Tobasco / hot sauce. Good stuff.
