Canon's APS-H sensor is the 1.4x,which is the 1D-Series bodies only...and happens to be my favorite of all their sensors. I MUCH prefer my 1D3 and 1D4,to the 1Ds bodies(Full Frame),in my larder.

The 17-40L is a great fit on an APS-C sensor...........................
