I know you're asking about Speed Queen, but I recently bought washer/dryer myself. Been buying Whirlpool for years because we had a Good Ole Boy Whirlpool dealer for 30 years local . He pretty much has closed up shop, so we looked around. We ended up buying Maytag, American made sticker on front for what that's worth, and really does a great job washing and drying. On Normal Wash option, uses hardly no water at all, about 6" in bottom of tub. I was really skeptical of it cleaning with so little water, but it does a good job. No agitator, an "impeller" made on bottom of tub. Handles clothes a bit more gently. Very quit on spin cycle also , only noise is damn buzzer that comes on at end of drying cycle, it can be turned off but wife likes it. Very impressed so far with quality of workmanship and job it does over the Whirlpools we have been used to. Good luck on your search. We'll buy Maytag again with everything else being equal.
