It works and yes I can see a difference between the 22 calibers and my 6mm but if hit properly a coyote makes very few tracks if any when shot w a 223.

If he can bust shoulders with a 50 or 55 grain Ballistic tip he will have minimal runners or spinners but a lung shot works fine too just expect a few short runs or a coyote that corkscrews itself in the ground.

No issues w the 223 for coyotes but then again I have no issues killing deer with a bullet that weighs 80-95 grains from a 243/6mm. It's all whether they are hit right or not.
