The ad says "Yugoslavian M24/47 8mm Mauser". I was thinking of screwing a $100 A&B 260 Rem barrel from Midway on it.

That cartridge would work fine in a 24/47. But the rifle uses what is known as a safety breeching system. That makes it more complicated to re-barrel. There is an extractor cut in the side of the shank that has to be made after the barrel is headspaced. This means the barrel has to be removed again, the cut made, then reinstalled.
Other than that they are usually pretty slick actions, but not ALL 98 parts will work on this action.
This could potentially be more $$$ than you had in mind.
