It seems that mounting a scope ahead of the hinge would be a more accurate way of mounting a scope.........but I have never had an issue mounting them back on the receiver. Most quality springers are one hole accurate at 10 yards and easily 1/2" at 25 yards - what more is there to be had? I think conventional mounting is fine and typically provides a larger field of view through the optic. I think we are fixing something that ain't broke here. But if you want to try it, I have a couple handgun scopes I would sell cheap if you would like to experiment let me know.
